Compassion

Monday's weather (wind, rain, power outages, damage across the area) reminds us that there are some things that are way above our control. Many things rely on our decision ~ "Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble."

This morning I am greatly inspired by Erin's devotion from I Peter Chapter 5.
Life deals us situations when we have the opportunity to be compassionate ~ see a situation from another person's perspective.  You know that "Walk a mile in someone else's shoes."  Today is your opportunity to do just that.

Love.  Compassion.  Humility.

Communication is based on perception as I mentioned a few days ago ~ take it to a new level.  Just because the store clerk didn't want to help you with a smile on her face; think, "Why?"  Was she just emotionally abused by her husband?

The guy who cut you off on the way to work ... maybe he just found out his wife has cancer.  The guy at the coffee shop was rude to you, spilled coffee on your shoes and didn't apologize ~ maybe his kid is doing drugs and he is scared for his child's life.
Most of the time it is so much easier to show love and compassion to those who are already happy, on path, living life according to "your terms."

It is those moments to "minister" to those in need that define our path.  Those opportunities to love a perfect stranger, show compassion, and be humble to our pride will truly impact the lives of those around us ~ and those most in need.
They watch our reactions, even if they don't know it.

So ...
To the guy in the coffee shop, ask him, "Are you okay ... just wanted to make sure."
To the girl who is the store clerk, Smile ~ and say, "You have a beautiful smile ... use it more ... you are worth it."
To the guy who cut you off, take a moment to pray that he doesn't hurt anyone while driving and that he arrives to his destination safely.

And the gifts you receive will keep on going ... your heart will be happy!
